New York, April 28th , 2010.- IPITIMES.COM.- March for Babies events Los Angeles, Miami, Nueva York, Boston, Atlanta, St. Louis, Baltimore, Jacksonville was places that celebrities, sports stars, and elected officials pledged to join the March of Dimes to fight preterm birth and give all babies a healthy start in life. Preterm birth is the number one killer of newborns in the United States, and babies who survive often face lifelong health problems.

"The March of Dimes is grateful not only to the thousands of individuals, companies and organizations who show their support each year for healthy babies, but also to these well-known television and sports stars who lend their celebrity status to help raise awareness about our mission," said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, president of the March of Dimes. This year the hispanic actors Geraldine Bazan and Carlos Ponce marched with us in Miami.

Stars from the TV shows Modern Family and The Biggest Loser and pro athletes from baseball and football walk in March for Babies. The event helps fund research, advocacy and educational programs for stronger, healthier babies.

The goal for this year's March for Babies, the March of Dimes signature fundraiser, is $100 million. Since 1970, the event has raised $1.8 billion to support research, advocacy and education programs in communities across the country, enabling more moms to have healthy, full-term pregnancies. March for Babies is held in nearly 900 communities across the country with more than 7 million people participating, including celebrity stars:

Premature birth is a serious and costly problem. More than 540,000 babies are born too soon in the United States each year, costing the nation more than $26 billion annually, according to the Institute of Medicine.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March for Babies is sponsored nationally by the March of Dimes.

Los eventos se celebraron a lo largo y ancho de los EE.UU apoyan la Investigación para poner fin a los partos prematuros y otros problemas de salud que aquejan a la infancia

Nueva York a 28 de abril del 2010, IPITIMES.COM.- Pisaron fuerte en los eventos de la Marcha por los bebés varias celebridades, estrellas del deporte y funcionarios electos se comprometieron a sumarse a la lucha de March of Dimes para terminar con los partos prematuros y garantizar a todos los bebés una vida sana desde el primer día de nacidos. La principal causa de muerte de recién nacidos en Estados Unidos son los partos prematuros; además, los bebés que logran sobrevivir suelen enfrentar problemas de salud el resto de su vida.

La Marcha por los bebés contaron con la presencia de estrellas de programas de televisión como Modern Family y The Biggest Loser (Perder para ganar), y jugadores profesional de béisbol y fútbol americano. La actriz mexicana residente en Miami Geraldine Bazan con su pequeña hija Elissa Marie, el cantante y actor Carlos Ponce. El evento ayudará a financiar programas de investigación, formación y activismo para que nazcan bebés más fuertes y sanos.

Este año la meta de la Marcha por los bebés, el programa insignia de March of Dimes para la recaudación de fondos, es reunir $100 millones. Desde 1970, el evento ha recaudado $1,800 millones para apoyar programas de investigación, formación y activismo en las comunidades de todo el país, contribuyendo así a que más madres disfruten de embarazos sanos que llegan a término. La Marcha por los bebés se celebra en casi 900 comunidades del país e implica la participación de más de 7 millones de personas.

Cabe mencionar que los partos prematuros constituyen un problema grave y costoso, pues más de 540 mil bebés nacen antes de término en Estados Unidos cada año, hecho que, según datos del Instituto de Medicina, cuesta a todo el país más de 26 mil millones de dólares al año.

March of Dimes es la organización no lucrativa con mayor liderazgo en el ámbito de la salud durante el embarazo y la salud de los bebés.

Tiene secciones en todo el país y con su evento principal trabaja para mejorar la salud de los pequeños, mediante la prevención de defectos de nacimiento, nacimientos prematuros y mortalidad infantil.
